The latest addition to Toshiaki’s CoroCoro series is a palm-sized sake cup, handcrafted using the traditional Bizen technique known as Goma. During the firing process, natural ash from pinewood settles on the clay surface, creating soft, crater-like patterns reminiscent of the moon’s surface—each piece a unique landscape shaped by fire and chance.
True to its name, the cup gently rocks and rolls when touched, thanks to its rounded bottom. Yet despite its playful motion, it is precisely engineered to remain upright—a delicate balance of form and function.
Perfect for tea, water, or your favorite beverage, this charming vessel invites a moment of quiet rhythm. As the cup sways, so too does time seem to slow, offering a serene and tactile drinking experience grounded in nature and craftsmanship.
